Why You Should Have A Website
By Leif Bryan
The world is now consumed by the internet. In fact, the internet is the number one shopping place for those trying to find the services they need. Statistics show that sales are improved because a website gives a company more credibility in the market, leads to more interest in the services offered, and increases sales of services or products offered by the company.
Improving Credibility
When people look for a company to do work for them, they look for ways to get to know the provider. The yellow pages or a listing page only gives a limited, if any, amount of space to share information with the world. However, a website allows a company to give as much details about their business as they desire.
Think about it: As a consumer, a person wants to know as much information as possible about a company before they start talking to them. If they are able to get a look at what the company offers, not only are they going to look at their website for details, but they are very likely to use that company for their services.
Now as a provider, one needs to make sure that they give the consumer what they want. In this case, they want information. A lot of the big companies today have a website. Even the smaller businesses are taking advantage of the internet today. Companies that were once considered small business have grown into large corporations mostly in part because of a web presence. That can happen to anyone who takes the first steps to getting a website.
Generating Interest
The first thing people look for in a company is a website. A website denotes status and popularity. When people want information, they look for company websites. Therefore, having a website not only allows you to gain credibility but it also allows you to gain the interest of potential consumers.
Search engines such as Google and Yahoo are now the tools used to find companies. How nice would it be if a person looking for auto repair in New Jersey were to enter “auto repair New Jersey” in a Google search bar and your website appears among the search listings. It would be great, would it not? Since this technology is available at the fingerprints of many people, take advantage of it.
People may not be looking for your services today but maybe tomorrow they will. Having your website up on the Internet raises the possibility of gaining their business.
Increased Sales
After the website has become more credible and it has generated interest in the public, the next thing one can expect is increased sales. The very fact that a website is another avenue of advertising will bring forth more leads.
Several years ago a small firm decided to get a website. While the costs in the beginning reached deep in their pockets, the benefits were that they were generating business that patched the hole in their pockets and moved the business in the right direction.
This same success story has happened time and time again. True, no one can guaranteed instant success or millionaire status. However, with proper management and strategy a company will see how a website can be a strong influence.
Try this: Start a website and when sales come in, ask where they heard about the company. Some will say from another person, some will say from another form of advertising, but it is guaranteed someone will say from the internet.
Why Should I Have A Website?
Several reasons have been discussed. It might not seem like having a website can make a difference. And in some cases, it might not. But why not try? The advantages far outweigh any disadvantages and the rewards will be seen in time. So having a website is something to consider.
